Were Chicago fans saying "BOO" or "BOO-rett? Brett Anderson isn't just our Dud of the Week. He also posted one of the worst single-week scores in FBLG history. |
1. Bodysuit Man (1017.2 points, 5-0, last week 1): We're getting a little tired of singing the praises of Can't Stand Ya after 5 dominant weeks. But here's the rundown from Week 5: Adam Duvall (27.5), Matt Carpenter (26.5), Charlie Blackmon (26) and Gerrit Cole (25) combined to score more points than 2 of FBLG's teams. On the other hand, Patrick Corbin (-4) thought he was pitching in 2016.
2. Project Mayhem (889.2 points, 3-2, last week 5): Don't look now, but Bill's team is a legitimate contender. Ryan Zimmerman (28) continues to look like the second coming of Ted Williams, and Johnny Cueto (27) did what an ace is supposed to do. Cesar Hernandez (20) is one of FBLG's top scorers, and now Ian Desmond (18) has joined an already-dangerous lineup.
3. Lawyers Guns and Money (882.3 points, 3-2, last week 4): Matt's team steamrolled the commissioners thanks to big performances from Joey Votto (32.5), Marcell Ozuna (24.5), Vince Velasquez (19) and Trevor Cahill (18). Bryce Harper (8) cooled considerably, but the rest of the team certainly picked up the slack.
4. Clemente’s Bucs (860.8 points, 3-2, last week, 6): This one went how Ray drew it up. Clayton Kershaw (25.3) and Stephen Strasburg (15.7) put up big totals on the mound, and the bats did enough to drown the Fish. Wait, can fish drown? Whatever. Aledmys Diaz (24.5) and Eugenio Suarez (24.5) must have been inspired by this blog's ribbing last week because they bounced back nicely.

It was a good week to be a Reds hitter and a terrible one to be a Giants pitcher unless your name was Cueto. |
5. Pitch! You Blockhead (848.8 points, 2-3, last week 3): We'd like to say Brett Anderson (-14.3) singlehandedly caused Scott's team to lose to AL, but that wouldn't be accurate. Still, going 0-2 with 12 runs allowed in 1.2 innings is something special. Matt Cain (-6.7) tried to out-dud Anderson, but making only 1 start held him back.
6. Arbitration Losers (833.3 points, 3-2, last week 8): Jay Bruce (26.5) and Paul Goldschmidt (21.5) combined to drive in 16 runs and lead Tim's team past PYB. Tanner Roark (18) and Michael Wacha (17) didn't exactly shine, but they put up points in their double-start weeks. However, Julio Teheran started twice and lost twice while putting up a 3 for the Losers.
7. Quirkin’ For a Livin’ (828.8 points, 2-3, last week 2): It was a disaster of a week for the commissioners, who barely reached triple digits. Only 2 hitters posted double-digit points: Ben Zobrist (14.5) and Yangervis Solarte (11.5). And 2 pitchers hurt more than they helped: Mike Foltynewicz (-2) and Matt Harvey (-1.7). Can Cody Bellinger help right the ship?
8. The Rookies (809.3 points, 2-3, last week 9): Henry got a big week from his pitchers, led by Jon Lester (28) and Max Scherzer (22), but most of the lineup didn't do much to help in a loss to PM. Although Freddie Freeman (21) and Ender Inciarte (20.5) were great, Tyler Flowers (3) was a no-show. And where was Zack Wheeler (DNP)? Was he out partying with Matt Harvey?
9. Fresh Fish (797.7 points, 2-3, last week 7): Rick's team laid an egg in Week 5 and tumbled 2 spots in the rankings. Austin Hedges had a laughable week, going 0-fer with 2 walks and 3 errors. On the bright side, Anthony Rendon (23), Jayson Werth (20.5) and Asdrubal Cabrera (18.5) did some damage with the lumber. Matt Moore (-5.7) kinda stunk, though.
10. The Misfits (675.3 points, 0-5, last week 10): It's shaping up to be that kind of year for Reid's team. Stephen Piscotty (7), Adrian Gonzalez (3), Brandon McCarthy (DNP) and Shawn Kelley (DNP) landed on the disabled list. Ty Blach (-8) might as well have.
