Charlie Blackmon isn't just a good hitter. He's quite adept at sliding, too. |
1. Fresh Fish (2,208 points, 8-4, last week 1): It's hard to blame Clayton Kershaw for a loss, but his 3-point effort on Sunday really hurt the Fish in an 8-point loss to The Lumbar Yard. Jason Hammel (8) and Bartolo Colon (5) share some of the blame because they failed to take advantage of double-start weeks.
2. Hundley Eyes (2,150 points, 6-6, last week 2): It's a good thing Jose Fernandez (42) was at his best this week because the offense is a horrifying blend of injured (Trevor Story, Matt Adams, Marcell Ozuna) and ineffective (Ben Zobrist, Jhonny Peralta, Welington Castillo). At least the commishes can count on Trevor Rosenthal!
3. Lawyers, Guns & Money (2,131 points, 7-5, last week 3): The Fightin' Zevons had a solid week, but it wasn't enough in a loss to PYB. The re-acquisition of Justin Bour (25) turned out to be a wise move, and Giancarlo Stanton (24) snapped out of his slump. However, Aaron Nola (-3) was lousy in a pair of appearances.
4. Pitch You Blockhead (2,095 points, 6-6, last week 5): Jon Jay (0) didn't play and Jeff Samardzija (-1) got rocked, but PYB was able to win thanks to the efforts of Anthony DeSclafani (36), Jean Segura (32) and Nolan Arenado (26).
5. Arbitration Losers (2,094 points, 6-6, last week 4): The Losers were the lowest-scoring squad in FBLG this week. Jay Bruce (22) continued his comeback season, but Joey Votto (3), Yadier Molina (4), Curtis Granderson (7) and Gio Gonzalez (-1) didn't do much to help.

Trayce Thompson posted 6 consecutive zeroes to earn the Dud of the Week Award. |
6. Rookies (2,053 points, 5-7, last week 6): Matt Kemp (20) and Cameron Rupp (18) led the way for the Rookies, but it wasn't enough to get the team past Hundley Eyes. Jake Arrieta (7) and Starling Marte (7) didn't live up to their usual standards, and Jonathan Villar (6) had a disappointing week.
7. Retire 21 (2,047 points, 5-7, last week 7): The Sons of Clemente came oh-so-close in a 3-point loss to the Misfits. Nick Markakis (19) did well in his return to the lineup, and Drew Pomeranz (24) had an outstanding start. Steven Matz's implosion was the real blow.
8. Misfits (2,013 points, 7-5, last week 8): Aledmys Diaz (28) erupted for the Misfits, who got a big boost from a couple of new additions. Brandon Moss (19) and Derek Norris (19) were crucial in the win against R21. Hector Rondon (5) was the low man -- he pitched only once.
9. The Lumbar Yard (1,977 points, 7-5, last week 9): The Yard picked up a win thanks to the efforts of Corey Seager (24), Jeremy Hellickson (20), Shelby Miller (18) and Nick Hundley (17). Ben Revere (2) and Trayce Thompson (0) were terrible, though.
10. Goldschmidt Happens (1,806 points, 3-9, last week 10): Charlie Blackmon (38) went berserk to snap GH's streak of disappointments. Paul Goldschmidt (23) appears to be back on track, and Asdrubal Cabrera (16) finally did something worth mentioning.
