The Reds traded this man to the Royals in exchange for three lefties and a plate of Panda Express' Orange Chicken. |
1. Already Zaun (13-3, 2,857 points, last week 1): The Zaunies were due for a down week, and it happened in Week 16. Troy Tulowitzki put up 4 points — none of them after Monday — and David Peralta chipped in with 6. Meanwhile, Randal Grichuk and Ben Paulsen put up big weeks on the bench. Whoops.
2. Retire 21 (11-5, 2,811 points, last week 3): Ray's team put up a whopping 236 points this week, and it's easy to see why. Clayton Kershaw, Jose Fernandez and Jacob deGrom combined for a whopping 84 points. Imagine if Justin Upton had been healthy all week...
3. Pitch You Blockhead (11-5, 2,750 points, last week 2): Scott's team, which has thrived on excellent starting pitching all season, laid a 137-point egg. That was due in part to mediocre starting pitching: PYB got only 38 points in 6 starts from Zack Greinke, Lance Lynn, A.J. Burnett and Jason Hammel.
4. Arbitration Losers (9-7, 2,660 points, last week 4): Brandon Belt, Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner had strong weeks for Tim's team, but there wasn't much else to get excited about in a blowout loss to the Rookies. What will the Losers do with Anthony Rendon back in the mix?
5. Chateau Marmol (9-6-1, 2,597 points, last week 5): Matt's team managed to eke out a 1-point win against Soler Eclipse. If you can win when you get only 8 points from your ace (Max Scherzer) and another starter suffers an injury and has his second outing of the week pushed back (Brett Anderson), count your blessings.
6. Rookies (7-8-1, 2,558 points, last week 7t): How did the Rookies post a 237 this week? Ninety-six points from the starting pitchers is a good start. The low man on the team was Martin Prado, and he scored 9 points. Impressive work!
7. Soler Eclipse (5-11, 2,555 points, last week 6): Adam was on the receiving end of that previously mentioned 1-point loss, and he'll probably blame the enigmatic Starlin Castro. The wildly inconsistent shortstop posted only 3 points this week. Derek Norris, who scored 6, didn't help much either.
8. The Bryce is Right (5-11, 2,515 points, last week 7t): Bill's team thumped Already Zaun by 37 points. Every player scored in double figures except Manny Banuelos (1). Todd Frazier blew up with 32 points, and Gerrit Cole scored 28 across 2 starts.
9. Misfits (6-10, 2,474 points, last week 9): Reid's team lost out on the no-hitter points because Cole Hamels was on the bench, but it didn't matter — the Misfits beat PYB anyway. Justin Turner, one of the biggest surprises in FBLG this year, led the way with 23 points.
10. Fresh Fish (3-13, 2,329 points, last week 10): Dan Haren, Doug Fister and Ryan Vogelsong combined for 12 points, and Andre Ethier scored 2. At least Freddie Freeman is back, and Johnny Cueto is now pitching for a contender.
