Week 17: Thursday roundup

Brandon Phillips tried to singlehandedly lift the Fresh Fish out of last place. He didn't quite make it.
Studs: Brandon Phillips (FF) homered twice, singled twice, drove in 7 and stole 2 bases. That's a 17-point day if you're keeping score. Marlon Byrd (FF) was a triple shy of a cycle and drove in 3. Matt Carpenter (AZ) broke out of his 3-month slump with 2 homers, a double, a single, 4 RBIs, 4 runs — and an error. Derek Norris (SE) went 5 for 5 with a grand slam and scored 2 runs; he did make an error, though. Curtis Granderson (Misfits) hit a 3-run homer, doubled and scored twice. Nick Hundley (R21) homered, doubled, scored twice and drove in 2. Anthony Rizzo (CM) was a triple shy of a cycle and drove in 3. Max Scherzer (CM) got the win and struck out 6 in 7 shutout innings. Billy Hamilton (Rookies) stole 2 bases, scored 3 times, singled twice and drove in a run.

Duds: Jeurys Familia (AZ) continued his post-break implosion by serving up a game-losing 3-run homer. A.J. Burnett (PYB) allowed 8 runs (7 earned) and fanned 4 in a 4.1-inning loss.

Note: It's trade deadline time, which means many of your FBLG players are getting new homes. As always, you can keep your players who move to the American League, aka the "Junior Circuit," or "not real baseball because they use a player designated to not play defense." However, FBLG owners have the option of dropping such players and replacing them without burning a move. So if you're the owner of Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers, Cole Hamels, Troy Tulowitzki or anyone else who gets sent to an AL team before the deadline, let the commissioner's office know if you want to send them packing (as if).
