Maikel Franco can't believe the entire Phillies infield was active this week in FBLG, and neither can we. |
1. Already Zaun (13-2, 2,700 points, last week 1): With three weeks to go in the regular season, the Zaunies are in good shape in their quest to lock down one of the top two playoff seeds. Adrian Gonzalez and Jake Arrieta had big performances in the short week to help the commishes' squad hold off the feisty Chateau Marmol.
2. Pitch You Blockhead (11-4, 2,613 points, last week 2): How do you cruise to victory in a short week? Get 25 points from Zack Greinke, 20 from Lance Lynn, 18 from Jimmy Nelson, 15 from James Shields and 12 from Craig Kimbrel.
3. Retire 21 (10-5, 2,575 points, last week 3): Chalk up another loss for Ray's tumbling team, which is getting no offense to go with the strong rotation. Will the revamped infield — now featuring Cesar Hernandez and Jung-Ho Kang — make a difference?
4. Arbitration Losers (9-6, 2,481 points, last week 4): Tim's team is picking up wins but not making much of a surge in the points race. Will Jayson Werth, Anthony Rendon and Ryan Zimmerman ever return to make an impact for these guys?
5. Chateau Marmol (8-6-1, 2,430 points, last week 5): Matt got a big week from Jason Heyward, but it wasn't enough to topple Already Zaun because his pitchers got no run support — and the rain in San Diego wiped out a strikeout-heavy performance from Andrew Cashner.
6. Soler Eclipse (5-10, 2,389 points, last week 6): How bad a week was it for Adam's team? It put up 60 points, and 15 of them came from John Lackey. None of them came from Casey McGehee, though.
7t. Rookies (6-8-1, 2,321 points, last week 7): If you thought Soler's 60-point week was rough, you don't want to look at Henry's team. The Rookies posted a 45, led by 10 from Jay Bruce and 10 from Shelby Miller.
7t. The Bryce is Right (4-11, 2,321 points, last week 8): We tried to find something notable to say about Bill's team, but we came up empty. Oh, wait: Here's something! That Bryce Harper sure can hit a baseball a long way, right?
9. Misfits (5-10, 2,319 points, last week 9): Some unconventional names led the way for Reid's team, which is threatening to move up in the rankings. The Misfits are only 2 points out of 7th now thanks to big performances from Mike Fiers (18), Taylor Jungmann (16), Curtis Granderson (13) and Adeiny Hechavarria (10).
10. Fresh Fish (3-12, 2,168 points, last week 10): A 67-point week usually wouldn't be worth getting excited about, but this one meant a second consecutive win for the Fish. Still, it's looking like Rick's team will have the first pick in the 2016 draft — which Marlin will the Fish choose with that selection? Let's start a pool...
