League notes

Owners looking for a dent in the VC Appraisers' armor are still looking. VCA has pushed their overall lead to 137 points. Teams in spots 2 through 7 are fairly tightly bunched, so we can expect a competitive league if the VCA's ever do actually falter. Owners lookings for something to hang their hopes on, it has to be the VCA's bench. The Appraisers were the only FBLG team not to burn at least three April moves (they burned only one and that was to retain a DL'd player who was acquired in the supplemental draft). Their bench currently consists of a player in the minors (Domonic Brown), a No. 4 outfielder (John Jay), and a pretty good pitcher (Jonathan Sanchez). So if something happens to one of their pitchers, they'll be fine. If something happens to a position player, they could be hurting.


Also, last-place Pitch You Blockhead are approaching the dreaded "Bandito Line." PYB is 275 points out of first. The biggest deficit overcome by an FBLG champion was 299 points in 1997 by the Beezabol Banditos.

The first FBLG trade of the season was finalized Wednesday night, with the Pickle Bugs sending 1B Carlos Pena and 2B Danny Espinosa to the Holliday Road for RP Joel Hanrahan and 2B Omar Infante

Pickle Bugs, On Thursday, placed RP Jonathan Broxton on the disabled list; traded 2B Danny Espinosa; activated RP Joel Hanrahan and 2B Omar Infante (acquired in trade).

Holliday Road, on Thursday, benched 1B Lyle Overbay and traded 2B Omar Infante; activated 1B Carlos Pena and 2B Danny Espinosa (both acquired in trade).
