First Josh Beckett, now Clayton Kershaw. Your turn, Zack Greinke. |
Studs: Clayton Kershaw (FF) nearly threw a perfect game against the Rockies. Because of an error on shortstop Hanley Ramirez, Kershaw had to "settle" for a 15-strikeout no-hitter. That's a nice little 39-point outing in FBLG. Bartolo Colon (FF) struck out 1 (that's not a typo) and allowed 1 run in an 8-inning win. He also doubled and scored. If not for Kershaw's no-no, the blog would include a very jiggly animated GIF of that. Jake Arrieta (AL) doubled and struck out 11 while allowing 1 run in a 7-inning win. Marlon Byrd (FF) homered, singled twice, drove in 3 and scored twice. Starlin Castro (Tanana) doubled twice, singled, drove in 2 and scored 2 runs. Chris Owings (RR) was a homer short of the cycle, drove in a run and scored. Matt Kemp (Misfits) doubled twice, singled, drove in 2 and scored.
Duds: Tim Hudson (AL) gave up 7 runs on 12-hits in a 4.2-inning loss and didn't strike out anyone. Aaron Harang (Misfits) allowed 8 earned runs on 13 hits in a 5-inning loss. Miguel Montero (E-3) went 1 for 4 and dropped a foul ball. Curtis Granderson (E-3) went 0 for 1 with 3 walks and was caught stealing. Way to drive him in, Mets.
Transactions: In a cute game of musical chairs, Ryan's Rangers move Bronson Arroyo to the DL in place of Gio Gonzalez, who moves to the rotation in place of Chase Anderson, who moves to the bench.
