Week 14: Sunday Roundup

Mark Reynolds might not be the pitcher we want, but he's definitely the pitcher we need.
STUDS: Burly basher Jesus Aguilar (SG) homered twice, drove in 4, scored 3 runs and walked. J.T. Realmuto (AL) went 5 for 6 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs.

If you thought Jeff Mathis was a terrible
hitter, you should see him pitch.
DUDS: Sean Newcomb (SG) posted his second stinker in a row, striking out 3 and allowing 5 runs in a 3.2-inning loss. Scooter Gennett (FF) walked and erred. Joey Votto (BM) walked, scored and erred. Paul DeJong (BM bench) singled, scored, walked and committed 2 errors. Nice work, Pauly. Gerardo Parra (M) went 0-fer with an error.

POSITION PLAYERS PITCHING: You know we here at the FBLG blog love it when position players take the mound. Sunday brought us two examples of this wackiness. One day after driving in 10 runs, Mark Reynolds took the hill for the Nationals and retired the only batter he faced. Reynolds apparently throws a wicked knuckleball, which might explain some of the league-leading 35 errors he made in 2008. Later, FBLG punching bag Jeff Mathis pitched in extra innings with the Diamondbacks out of actual talent. Predictably, Mathis served up the game-losing homer to Wil Myers.
