Week 9: Tuesday's Roundup

Even though the Rockies had 5 Studs of their own, the day's top batting performer was Matt Carpenter, who posted a 15.

Normal studs: Jose Fernandez (HE) got the win and struck out 6 in 7 shutout innings. Matt Carpenter (R21) tripled twice, doubled, singled, scored 4 runs and drove in 2. Joe Ross (LY) struck out 5 and allowed 1 run in a 7-inning win. Corey Seager (LY) hit a 3-run homer, singled twice and scored twice. Jonathan Lucroy (FF) is making this a habit — he homered, doubled, drove in 2 and threw out a base-stealer. 

Coors Field studs: D.J. LeMahieu (AL) went 4 for 4 with a homer, 2 doubles, 4 runs and 2 RBIs. Charlie Blackmon (GH) hit a grand slam and a solo homer. Gerardo Parra (GH) was a triple short of a cycle, drove in 2 and scored twice. Carlos Gonzalez (LGM) also was a triple short of a cycle and drove in 2. Nolan Arenado (PYB) hit a pair of 2-run homers and scored 3 times. Jay Bruce (AL) was a single short of a cycle and drove in 2. 

Duds: James Shields (FF) allowed 10 runs and fanned 1 in a 2.2-inning loss. That's a -9 if you're scoring at home. Patrick Corbin (HE) allowed 7 runs and struck out 3 in a 3.1-inning loss. Miguel Montero (GH) went 0 for 3 with 2 errors. Asdrubal Cabrera (GH) and Freddy Galvis (R21) each went 0 for 4 with an error.
