Week 5: Friday Roundup

Bryce Harper, meet Nick Pivetta. Baseball, meet the outfield bleachers.
STUDS: Bryce Harper (AL) hit a solo homer and a 2-run homer. Asdrubal Cabrera (PYB) homered, tripled, scored twice and drove in 3. Todd Frazier (BM) homered, singled, drove in 3 and stole a base. Miles Mikolas (PYB) got the win and struck out 4 in 7 shutout innings.

We have a hard time getting excited about combined no-hitters,
but we have no problem getting excited about Walker Buehler.
DUDS: Nick Pivetta (FDD) was a dumpster fire for the commissioners last year, and he returned to form after being claimed by the commishes off waivers. Pivetta lasted 1 inning against the Nats, allowed 6 runs and took the loss. He struck out 1, and it was the opposing pitcher. Zack Wheeler (SG) allowed 8 runs and fanned 3 in a 6-inning loss. Mike Foltynewicz (PYB) served up 6 runs and struck out 4 in a 5-inning loss. Paul DeJong (BM) went 0 for 3 with a walk and an error.

BAD TIMING: The Misfits picked the wrong time to put Walker Buehler on the bench. Buehler struck out 8 in 6 innings and didn't allow a hit; the Dodgers bullpen managed to not soil the bed and completed the no-hitter. It would have been a 19-point outing from Buehler.

OH, NOW HE'S GOOD: Gerrit Cole threw a 1-hitter against the Diamondbacks and struck out 16. Cole has a 1.42 ERA this year with 77 strikeouts and 26 hits allowed in 50.2 innings. Where was this stud when he played in the National League? Typical UCLA trash.
