| Whether they're served up by Jered Weaver or Guido the waiter, Matt Holliday sure does like meatballs. |
Studs: Matt Holliday (FF) seemed to like Jered Weaver's speed-limit fastball. Holliday hit a 2-run homer, a solo homer and 2 singles. He also scored 3 runs. Speaking of Cardinals, Matt Carpenter (R21) hit a 3-run homer, singled and scored twice. Can we just assume Clayton Kershaw (FF) is on this list unless we say otherwise? He struck out 13 Mets in a shutout. Johnny Cueto (FF) allowed 2 runs and struck out 9 in a 7-inning win. Odubel Herrera (LGM) went 4 for 4 with a triple, a steal and 2 runs. Melvin Upton Jr. (LY) — wait, that can't be right. Are we sure it's not Justin? Or Kate? Well, OK. The artist formerly known as B.J. was a triple short of a cycle, drove in 2 and scored twice.
Dud: Trevor Rosenthal (HE) came in to get the save after Seth Maness predictably imploded, and Rosenthal walked all 3 batters he faced. Good thing Kevin Siegrist was there to bail him out. It goes down as a 0 for Rosenthal.
Note: A day after the game, the official scorer revoked the error charged to the aforementioned Herrera. The scoring document has been updated to reflect the change, and we here at the FBLG blog regret our criticism of Herrera's exquisite glove work. (eye roll)
