Week 6: Tuesday's Roundup

He's old, he's slow, he can't really play defense. But Matt Holliday will probably still be able to hit when he's 50.
Studs: Mike Leake (R21) did that thing where he makes you think he's an elite pitcher, striking out 5 and allowing 1 run in an 8-inning win. He will do this 3 or 4 more times this season, just to mess with you. Cardinals and R21 teammate Matt Carpenter helped by slugging a pair of solo homers. World's Hottest Hitter Ben Zobrist (HE) was 4-for-4 with 3 runs and 2 RBIs. Jonathan Villar (Rookies) had what Vin Scully would call the "deuces wild" game: 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 2 stolen bases and then probably 2 carne asada burritos to celebrate. Addison Russell (LGM) had a double, a triple and 3 RBIs. Lovable plus-sized outfielder Matt Holliday (FF) doubled twice, homered and drove in 2.

Duds: Cesar Vargas (AL) did not have the FBLG debut he was probably hoping for, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits and striking out only 1 in a 4-inning loss. Justin Bour (LGM) was 0-for-4 with an error.

Note: The Pirates-Reds game was rained out. The Baseball Gods got one look at Clint Hurdle's plan to bat David Freese leadoff and said, "Nope. Not today." It will be rescheduled at some point, probably.
